Rosacea - Spacetouch

ROSACEA

Rosacea appears to be more common among fair-skinned people and affects an estimated 14 million Americans (1 in 20 people). Although the causes are not fully understood and there is no cure, there are a number of ways to relieve symptoms. As it is frequently misdiagnosed, the incidence may be a lot higher. Rosacea is more common among fair-skinned people of northern European ancestry.

TIPS FOR PREVENTING AND TREATING ROSACEA

BY LAURA SMITH M.D.

01. BE CONSISTENT WITH YOUR TREATMENT

Light therapy works only if you do. Use one our light therapy devices to treat the effected area, follow the instructions, and most important be consistent. Great results takes time. Make it a ritual, add a reminder to your phone, and use it while doing something you love.

02. PROTECT YOUR FACE

Apply sunscreen daily. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen — which blocks both ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays — with an SPF of 30 or higher. Apply sunscreen after you apply any topical medication you are using for your face, and before applying any cosmetics.

03. TREAT YOUR SKIN GENTLY

Don't rub or touch your face too much. Use a nonsoap cleanser and moisturize frequently. Avoid products that contain alcohol or other skin irritants.

04. USING COCONUT OIL

Moisturizers like coconut oil are popular for all sorts of inflammatory skin conditions, including rosacea. There aren’t recent studies showing coconut oil to be effective for rosacea. Still, it could help as a known anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and moisturizer.Apply a small amount of high quality coconut oil to your skin. You can also use it as a carrier oil for appropriate essential oils if desired.

05. GREEN TEA

Green tea is very rich in antioxidants and is available as a tea and herbal supplement. Research has shown it can be effective in the treatment of rosacea.Antioxidants are helpful for inflammation, including skin conditions. As such, green tea may be a popular ingredient in skin products and creams for rosacea. Applying topical products with green tea is the best method for treating rosacea.Cooled green tea may also be used as a compress and you can drink the tea for numerous health benefits, too.

06.  NIACINAMIDE
